See the sound: a sonogram, a pitch trace, and notes on the staff.

Pitchscope listens through the microphone and draws what it hears three ways at once: a scrolling sonogram, a pitch trace, and notes on a musical staff.

Common questions

Pitchscope can't hear anything
Open Settings → Pitchscope and turn Microphone on. If it is already on, close and reopen the app — another app may be holding the microphone.
The display stutters or lags
The analysis runs an FFT on every hop of audio. On older devices, pinch to zoom out of the sonogram, which reduces the number of frames drawn per second.
The pitch reading jumps around
Pitch detection needs a clear, sustained tone. Background noise, room echo, and chords — more than one note at a time — all make the estimate unstable.
